LC JUNIOR NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS – FEDERAL WAY, WA.
Catherine Zagroba placed in the top 24 in multiple events:
  • 13th Place: 200 Free: 2:03.62 [New US OPEN cut]
  • 16th Place: 400 Free: 4:18.72 (4:17.02 in prelims) [New US OPEN cut]
  • 20th Place: 800 Free: 8:53.51 [New US OPEN cut]
    • Special Note: Catherine’s 400 Free time was also a qualifying time for this past years World Championship Trials and will most likely be an 2012 Olympic Trial cut when the new time standards are posted by US Swimming.

EASTERN ZONE HIGHLIGHTS – STATE COLLEGE, PA:
Bobby Hilzen won 1st Place High Point for 13/14 Boys placing and winning in multiple events:
  • 1st Place: 1500 Free: 16:44.42 [Sectional cut]
  • 1st Place:    800 Free:    8:46.18 [Sectional cut]
  • 1st Place:    400 Free:    4:16.39 [Sectional cut]
  • 1st Place:    400 IM:      4:54.51 [Sectional cut]
  • 1st Place:    200 Fly:      2:17.80
  • 6th Place:    200 Free:    2:05.59 (2:05.17 in prelims)
Casey Fazio won 6th Place High Point for 13/14 Girls placing Top 8 in multiple events:
  • 3rd Place: 200 Back:     2:26.16 [Sectional cut; NJW All Time Top 10 list]
  • 5th Place: 100 Back:     1:09.44 [Sectional cut; NJW All Time Top 10 list]
  • 3rd Place: 200 IM:        2:29.58
  • 4th Place: 400 IM:        5:16.73
  • 7th Place:    50 Free:        :28.61
Larry Guindine swam a multitude of events at Zones and placed top 8 in:
  • 5th Place:    50 Backstroke: :37.45
  • 7th Place:    50 Free:             :32.62
  • 7th Place: 400 Free Relay
Honorable Zone Mentions:
Clair Shin also attended Zones for 10/under girls.
Susan Neggia also attended Zones for 11/12 girls.
Mark Hilzen also attended Zones for 10/under Boys.
Catherine Fazio also represented our team at Zones and deserves an Honorable Mention as she was able to do quite well despite being sick for several days prior to the meet.
 
A Special Noteshould be made that both Bobby Hilzen and Casey Fazio both decided to focus on this higher level meet rather than the Junior Olympic meet by swimming a reduced schedule and “off” events at the Junior Olympic meet where both would most likely have won 1st place high point.
